TV is an electronic device found in nearly all homes. They come at different sizes and prices, so affording one depends on the back pocket’s depth. It is either placed on a TV stand or mounted on the front wall of the dining room.

If it is mounted on the wall, and the distance from the TV floor to the TV depends on the size of the TV.

A screen should be placed at eye level while sitting on the front chair. To know the height that a TV should be mounted, measure the height of the TV, divide it by two, and subtract it from 42 inches. The answer is the height to mount the TV. That is the distance from the floor that the TV should be mounted.

In this article, I have discussed the measurement of TV, the distance a TV should be mounted on the wall from the floor, types of wall mounts, and the factors to consider when deciding where to mount the TV.

## How can I measure the TV height?

TV manufacturers name TV depending on the size. TVs are measured diagonally but not the height. For example, a 55 inches TV has a height of 27 inches. If I want to mount a 55 inches TV on the wall, I will divide 27 by two and get 13.5.

I will then subtract 13.5 from 42 inches, and the result is the height to mount my TV. In this case, the height from the TV floor to the bottom edge is 28.5 inches. However, the calculation does not always apply to short and tall people.

They can use their eye level when sitting on the front chair. The eye should be on the same level as the center of the TV.

## What can I consider before deciding on the TV height?

TV in the dining or entertainment room should be mounted conveniently where the family and guests cannot complain. A TV brings relaxing moods when bored and unwind upset minds. Before deciding the height to mount the TV, consider the following factors;

### 1. Viewing angle

The dining or entertainment room, the sitting position, and the height of the chairs will determine the height. Someone using a sofa will have a different height from one using a barstool.

### 2. Size of the room

The distance from the TV to the first chair is determined by the size of the room and the number of occupants. Regardless of the TV size, the room has to be utilized to accommodate the targeted family size. However, the first chair should not be too close to the TV.

A 26 inch TV mounted on the wall should have a distance of 1 Miter to the first chair. The TV wall should have electricity outlets just next to the TV, and the layout should accommodate the family.

### 3. TV size

Having known that TVs have different sizes, the distance from the floor is not the same. It will be crazy to mount a 26 inch TV at the same height as 65 inch TV. The calculations here above are for determining the height of mounting the TV.

A big TV will illuminate more light than a small screen; thus, the former should have a more considerable distance from the wall.

## What height can I mount a TV in an entertainment room?

An entertainment room is an ideal place for downtime activities and comfort. It has a spacious room and most of the times people spend time standing and making fun.

In an entertainment room, the TV should be raised to 60 inches from the TV floor.

An example is an entertainment room where guests watch football; they will cheer their favorite teams and players. If the room has barstools, the TV should be mounted 24 inches above the stool.

## Can I install a fireplace in my dining room?

A fireplace is a preserved cube within the dining room just below the TV area where fire can be ignited and maintained to warm the room. A fireplace is vital in the dining room though it affects the height of the TV from the floor.

The TV will be slightly higher than the recommended distance. While designing the fireplace,   attention to the highest order must be observed because electricity and electric devices may be affected by the heat.

## Wall mount or TV stand?

Both wall mount and TV stand are alternatives to setting TV for comfortable watch in conventional rooms. The TV stand is the easiest way to install a TV and quickly enjoy the day.

The TV is mounted on a stand then placed on a flat table or placed on the floor while keeping the view angle and watching distance.

Stands give the best view because they can be adjusted to serve the intended purpose. All TVs now have TV stands, so there is no need to worry about revisiting TV dealers. However, the TV will not be stable because it can be interfered with by kids and break.

On the contrary, the wall mount offers security, a comfortable view angle, and saves floor space. TV wall mounting saves on purchasing extra furniture for supporting the TV.

Mounting TV on the wall gives a stunning view of favorite programs, movies, and football sessions.

Wall mounting never depends on the room’s size and the TV size, so long as the wall can accommodate the screen. Mounting TV on the wall comes with extra expense and labor of drilling holes and fixing screws and bolts.

However, wall mounting demands professional TV technicians to install it because the Do It Yourself method can tamper with the screen. Remember, the screen must be handled with care to avoid breakages and fingerprints.

If the room has a fireplace, the cost becomes a bit high because of positioning the electric wires over the fireplace.

## What TV wall mount is the best?

### 1. Swivel mount

Swivel mount, also known as tilt mount, has a flat base that tilts from right to left to position the screen at different angles. The user can adjust the screen to the desired viewing angle and suit different sitting positions.

Swivel is the best bet when the room has multiple sofas at different corners. However, the swivel mount is not suitable for large TVs due to the weight.

### 2. Full-motion mount

Suppose the back pocket allows spending a pretty coin. Opting for a full-motion mount will be better. This is the most complicated type of wall mount for TV mounts. It is used in large rooms and conference halls because they can be adjusted to different viewing angles.

The stands are robust to support big screens. The full-motion mount is very flexible, and the arm can be extended outwards to access backports.

### 3. Hook mount

As the name suggests, the hook mount uses a hook to attach the TV to the wall mount. It is a classic wall mount, but once the TV is mounted, it is not easy to remove it once needed to relocate.

Hook mount leaves allowance at the back, giving room for using the ports. Hook mounts are rare to get because flat mounts use hooks.

### 4. Flat mount

Flat mount is the primary wall mount and comes with a TV set. It is offered as an after-sale package to customers. The TV is mounted on the wall tightly and does not give room for tilting or extending.

It is not easy to adjust the viewing angle when the TV is mounted because the clips hold the TV tightly.
